How do you prevent Athlete's Foot? and what is the best way to get rid of it!??

I don't understand why I have it to be honest..... I get it every 1 or 2 months (and then it goes) but recentley it's quite bad and it's spreading everywhere, despite how careful i'm being not to touch anything....

First off, what prevents it!??
And what's the best way (other than using creams, because i'm allergic to most i've found out) to get rid of it?

It's a right pain lol.... especially since i do martial arts, and am the ONLY student in trainers...... i'm worried it shall prevent me from doing tournaments in the future because they seem to be strict about it. But for now... i'm lucky my teacher lets me wear them in class.

I do sympathise - I keep getting reinfected as you need to use safety footwear on building sites and some insist that you wear the ones they supply (and you have no idea who else has had them on).

Keep your toenails short, change your socks every day. Dust with medicated talc if you can't cope with creams or sprays. Launder everything on a hot wash - soak socks in a Dettol solution every now and then. You could try Tea Tree Oil which is a traditional natural remedy which works.

Wash feet in coolish water (reduces tendency to sweating) and dry carefully - wear sandals (peace, man) instead of trainers and don't share towels etc. and avoid drying anything else (crotch) with the same towel. If you are sensitive to creams I wouldn't try bleach.
