Can I use a wrist brace instead of a wrist guard for snowboarding?
So I don't break my wrists @ perfect north..can I use a wrist braces 4 the same thing? Will it protect my wrists like the wrist guard would?
Definitely. I prefer the braces to the guards just because I have more flexibility and can use my hands more for bindings and stuff then. They usually won't provide as much support as the guards will, but as long as it fits well and is put on properly, it should provide plenty of support to prevent a wrist injury.
You can test to see how well it will work by sitting on the floor on your knees and then mock 'falling' to the floor and catching yourself with your hands (obviously be careful not to do it too hard the first time just in case the brace doesn't work)
If you wrist flexes all the way to a sharp angle, it won't work. It probably doesn't fit right or wasn't put on correctly.
And if you're talking about a hard brace - yeah, it'll work fine. Just as well.
