How much should replacing pads & rotors cost on a 03 ford focus?
According to my mechanic I need front brake pads, front brake rotors and a labor item that reads "Replace front break pads, rotors, and flush the system". This is not a ford dealership, but a private (not a chain) shop. How much would you think all this would cost for a 03 focus zx5? I've never had any break work done on this car since I bought it (in 03).
I'm the one who can't spell (not the shop). The first four answers that came in are all below the estimate given to me. Guess I am being ripped off?
The cost of FORD parts for your particular car is as follows:
Front Brake Pads (part number 3S4Z-2001-AA) $106.97US
Front Brake Rotors (part number 3S4Z-1125-AA) $77.31US x2
The prices above were obtained through www.fordparts.com. They are less expensive than actually going to the Ford dealer parts department. I strongly recommend you purchase FORD brakes for your car. I've heard too many complaints of brake squeel noises from use of aftermarket parts. A brake fluid "flush" is NOT necessary. Make sure to check your front springs to see if they are broken where the rubber insulator of the spring contacts the strut. If they are, take it to the Ford to dealer to have Field Service Action 03M02 carried out on your car FOR FREE. The cost of the labour depends on what the going labour rate is in your area. The brakes on your car are relatively easy to replace, so if any place tries to charge any more than 1.5 hours labour, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Hope this helps.
