Martial Tai Red
Did I screw up?
I am currently a 1st degree red belt in tae kwon do and about a year until I get my black belt. It seems to Tae Kwon Do is virtually useless in the sense of using it to fight against that which is why I started, but he open to the world of martial arts. I did not know much about martial arts before starting tae kwon do and thought they were all the same. I realize Now I should start muay tai what I was looking for. Did I waste all that time to do tae kwon do i Do I really benefit?
You should not see it that way. You were happy and he has given you a great workout. Finish what you started and then maybe you move to a different style when you're ready. Do not look like a waste of time. When I was young, I started in jiu-jitsu and then TKD switched because, like you, I did not know better. Then I went to Karate is now my primary style. I have never seen my previous training a waste. Yes, what I got from it was a basic knowledge of other arts. Best wishes!
