Power Kicker
what kind of amp do i need to power two kicker comp cvrs?
i have two 10 inch kicker comp cvrs and i dont know what kind of amp i need to power them. i have tried a clarion 420 watt and a sony xplode 1000 watt but they both over heat in like twenty mins. i need some suggestions on a good amp that will make my subs pound but isnt too too expensive
Not sure which cvrs you have.
These ones are 400watts rms (and voice coil configuration are dual 2 ohm):

The important thing to know is weather the subs are dual voice coil....single voice coil, and also what ohms are the coils.
That could make/break the way you hook up your subs and make the load on the amp.
PROBABLY both amps (clarion and sony...again not sure you post no model numbers) are probably not stable at 1 ohm. So if by chance your load was set for a 1 ohm load, might be why your amps over heat in 20 mins.
So find out what your voice coil configuration is and you can use these sites to find out how to wire your subs for the appropriate load. I would guess that you would want to make sure your subs are running 2 ohm (usually gives you the best options for your amp...and gives you the better power options.) 1 ohm is (usually a more powerful load...and on more expensive amps gives you the best run of power). Cheaper amps usually don't have the ability or fail quickly at 1 ohm.
As far as a good amp....For what you have...
As far as CHEAP goes...I am not sure what is "expensive" to you or not....

that one is as cheap as I'd spend....and isn't what I would run. If I had a real choice..

That way they'd match.
