Fight Board

Are there any board games BESIDES Monopoly where players fight to control areas on the board?
You know how in Monopoly all of the players are trying to buy every area on the board or bankrupt everyone. Well I had an idea for a war game where you fight to control certain areas of the board but I don't want to look like I'm copying off of Monopoly. Please tell me that other board games have done this and what are their names?
risk axes and allies and the farming game UM.. sorry is kind of one i guess. oh and settlers of catan , ticket to ride is sorta i guess. gulo gulo is one 2. hope i helped(= ps ur game idea is pretty cool.
