75 yr old wooden cabinet with black marks on the wood. What can I use to remove the black to bring out wood?
If you are going to attempt to remove the dark marks, then chances are that you will be refinishing the piece. Therefore you have 2 choices. First I would try to use a paint stripper, as this would remove any marks in the finish. If that does not remove the stains to your satisfaction, then I would use sand paper. Be careful when using sandpaper as you may create a depression in the wood if you don't sand the entire surface evenly.(Also, sand with the grain or you'll end up with scratches)
